Sundara offers a blend of Eastern and Western massage techniques designed to meet the individual mind and body needs of our guests. Massages are classified as belonging to either the Sundara Series, a traditional approach using botanicals and minerals, or the Chakra Series, based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing principles of India. The first few minutes of the total appointment time will be spent in consultation with your spa therapist, which ensures your preferences are noted.

The Chakra Series is based on the traditional 5,000-year-old healing science of India that encompasses authentic Ayurvedic principles. Creating an ideal state of being through bio-energy and spiritual disciplines is the outcome of these treatments. Special herbs, essences and aromas are integrated in the Chakra series. Following a Dosha, or body type analysis, treatments begin with a Ritual Footbath. The feet are washed with a detoxifying cleansing bar and massaged with fragrant massage oil. While the soothing benefits of the footbath are being realized, guests are given time to relax with their Dosha-specific tea. This body polish and massage leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturized to the max.  Begin with an application of sweet tea shea sugar scrub - with hints of ginger, peach, white tea and orchid - to remove dry skin and prepare for maximum hydration.  Next, enjoy a full body massage using a moisturizing Agave nectar body oil to seal in hydration.  Natural aloe leaf juice, pineapple and papaya extract reduce the rate of water loss form the skin and fight aging.  To finish, enjoy a cup of refreshing house made tea.

Warming Glow Massage

The therapist will light the candle of your choice, made with essential oils and shea butter, allow it to melt and then use the warmed oil in the massage. A portion of the candle will always remain and will be sent home with you to use as a massage oil or to enjoy as a fragrant candle.

Healing Stone Massage

Muscles warm and relax with the combination of deep, penetrating heat from warm river stones and the pressure of the massage strokes. Stones are also placed on specific points along the spine, in the palms of your hands and between the toes to improve the flow of energy in your body.

Golfer's Massage

Before or after your round of golf, ease tension with an invogorating scrub to the back, followed by an application of a hot compress.  While the heat penetrates aching muscles, the legs are treated to a massage using a seaweed oil boosting antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.  Once the compress has cooled, the service will finish with a full body massage, bringing relaxation to the areas that affect your game - especially the upper and lower back, shoulders and hips.  This service is not recommended for those with a shell fish or iodine allergy.
