Sundara offers a blend of Eastern and Western massage techniques designed to meet the individual mind and body needs of our guests. Massages are classified as belonging to either the Sundara Series, a traditional approach using botanicals and minerals, or the Chakra Series, based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing principles of India. The Chakra Series is based on the traditional 5,000-year-old healing science of India that encompasses authentic Ayurvedic principles. Creating an ideal state of being through bio-energy and spiritual disciplines is the outcome of these treatments. Special herbs, essences and aromas are integrated in the Chakra series. Following a Dosha, or body type analysis, treatments begin with a Ritual Footbath. The feet are washed with a detoxifying cleansing bar and massaged with fragrant massage oil. While the soothing benefits of the footbath are being realized, guests are given time to relax with their Dosha-specific tea. Four-Handed Heavenly Massage - Available through April

If you drift off during this service, we'll absolutely understand.  Many hands make quick work of relaxing overstressed muscles and clearing the mind of all those little things that may keep you awake at night.  The two therapists synchronize their movements, using light to moderate pressure found in Swedish massage.  You will feel cared for at a new level.

Warming Glow Massage

This service is so aromatic, so relaxing, so creative that we couldn't resist adding it to our menu.  Imagine petite candles made entirely from all-organic exotic essential oils and shea butter.  You'll choose from eight different aromas.  The therapist will light the candle of your choice, allow it to melt and then use the warmed oil in the massage, employing Swedish massage techniques.  A portion of the candle will always remain and will be sent home with you to use as a massage oil or to enjoy as a fragrant candle.

Life’s Journey Foot Ritual

In ancient India, this ritual welcomed guests after a long journey. No matter the journey that has brought you to Sundara, we honor your presence in the same way. The feet are washed in a copper bowl filled with warm water. They are gently dried and ayurvedic oil is applied. Then a foot scrub is applied and allowed to dry. The scrub is removed and feet and lower legs receive an ayurvedic massage. (There is no dosha analysis with this treatment.)
